An assassin travels to Bangkok to rescue someone from his past, leaving dead bodies in his wake while a deadly nemesis follows his path.

This was an enjoyable movie. The scene variety was outstanding, the set pieces were spectacular, and the gun play was reminiscent of something from John Wick (including character motivation). Starring Hwang Jung-min and Lee Jung-jae (enjoy this actor from Chief of Staff), they play perfect anti-hero and villain counterparts while canvasing across Thailand doing their Tom and Jerry routines.

I don’t understand this trope of bad-ass killer saving a pre-pubescent girl, but I sure enjoy these type of movies. Similar films: 아저씨 aka The Man from Nowhere, 부산행 aka Train To Busan, A Good Man.

Would of got a higher grade if not for the following… there is extensive product placement/advertising in the film for a certain bar near Korea-town in Sukhumvit, Bangkok. Additionally, the film has a Korean actor portraying a ladyboy and it’s pretty disrespectful prior to a redemption arc in the film’s climax.

First screened March 25, 2024 on Plex.
