Behind the scenes documentary and companion piece to Up Uranus.

The movie explains a lot of the strengths and pain points from Up Uranus while actually surprising me with the purposeful production. Early on Tara gives a quote which exposes most of my critique, “I want to make erotic entertainment for people who kinda think the same kind of way that I do”. She made what her fanbase expected of her — campy sci-fi porn.

That said… the documentary devolved into a depressing allegory for a forced career transition in middle-age and dealing with those inherent risks. Real good viewing for all ages and sexual orientations… seeing as Tara represents herself as a project manager throughout, viewers should take this as a lessons learned artifact.

There’s some explicit content, but it’s not porn. Should be picked up by other services, especially Mubi.

First screened November 26, 2023 on Apple TV.
