Brother to Brother to Brother to Brother the movie.
This 1986 John Woo film introduced the modern gunslinging camerawork that would eventually make its way over to the Hollywood film industry. Not to mention, its a pretty solid movie.
Three Hong Kong Triad members get rich quick by counterfeiting US dollars. There’s Sung Tse Ho (Ti Lung), the Big Brother of the gang who has a biological little brother Sung Tse Kit (Leslie Cheung). Sung Tse Ho has a Little Triad Brother: Mark Lee (Chow Yun-fat) who himself is mentoring a Little Brother: Shing Dan (Waise Lee).
After Kit announces he’s going to become a police inspector, Ho wants to leave the Triad. Unfortunately, he is captured on a trip to Taiwan and serves 3 years behind bars. During that time, his father dies, Kit gets married and is a revered inspector, Mark gets crippled taking revenge for Ho’s downfall, and Shing becomes the Boss of the Triad.
The story resumes after this time skip and serves as the 2nd act. The 3rd act is a bombastic allegory where you think about convicted felons and how they are not provided opportunities to properly rejoin society… because eventually they stop violence with violence. And John Woo gives everybody a big gun and wire to commit amazing gunfu.
