Once again, Cynthia Rothrock plays second fiddle in a western B-movie instead of starring.

Jalal Merhi stars as American martial artist investigating murders performed by an expert in a particular style of martial arts. Cynthia Rothrock is in the film as the “woman who needs protecting, but not really” trope. Bolo Yeung (Enter the Dragon, Bloodsport) is the killer. How westerners continue to defeat Bolo Yeung in all his movies, I’ll never know. Maybe he has a bad agent, but I digress. I just described the core plots of Undefeatable and Martial Law — clearly Cynthia Rothrock had a shitty agent. Let me be clear, the same core plot of all three of these films are exactly the same. The B stories are different.

The western producers and directors did not utilize her skills properly at all, clear case of sexism from the 90s.

First screened August 13, 2023 on Prime Video.
