Kill Korean Bill
As my quip above suggests, this movie is effectively an imagining of Kill Bill in a Korean setting or Lady Vengeance. We have the Uma Thurman antihero who is taught how to be a murderer from childhood, there’s a bit of weird child grooming… and a director configuring scenes out of order for style (we go back and forth between past and present). The boss of the gang, surprise, killed her father, her entire motivation to live is getting revenge. Unfortunately, she becomes an agent for the Korean CIA or… becomes an indoctrinated PMC similar to Metal Gear Solid 5’s fulton recovery.
The action is top notch, but cinematography is all over the place. Lots of first-person perspectives and 360 frame shifts confuse you as viewer. The 2nd act of the movie is also a K-drama, and pretty unnecessary.
However, I could watch it again.
First screened April 30, 2023 on Amazon Prime.
