A movie where the titular comicbook character isn’t the focus of the movie, and instead attempts to be an homage to Back to the Future. Back to the Past would have been a far better title for the movie.
The film opens good enough with 3 of the Justice League members teaming up to stop crime in Gotham because… I guess Batman in the DCEU is as pitiful as my opinion of Batflek was. No cameos from Henry Cavil or Jason Momoa, because… Cavil was fired after Black Adam and the Snyderverse ends after Aquaman 2, but we got a cameo from Gal Gadot with a CGI enhanced ass. Speaking of CGI throughout the movie holy shit it’s horrible. Unreal Engine 4 was definitely the source, but without post processing — the quality compares to video games from Xbox 360 era gaming.
From here, the movie plods through the second act until we see alternate versions of Batman and Supergirl. The alternate version of The Flash is an 18yr old version and is represents the worst of the MTV teen influence. Michael Keaton explains the time travel rules with a spaghetti metaphor, instead of keeping it simple for the rest of the class as Marvel has done/is doing via TVA branching in Loki. Once again, another thing DC gets wrong.
The third act is Flashpoint done badly. Which Loki has done better in every way. Why is Zod in Australia instead of Metropolis? How is Supergirl same age as Superman, but Superman’s pod was intercepted by Zod? Did Zod wait 25 years to attack Earth? This is all an insane McGuffin to have The Flash lose a fight and try to break the paradox from the branched timeline. AND THEN DC tries to tickle your nostalgia by showing alternate timelines that nobody watching the film has connections to. They literally CGI’d Christopher Reeve in the fucking movie along with Nicholas Cage as Superman. Nobody watching DCEU The Flash cares because they are Snyderverse fans. Would have been better to bring in the WB shows or the DC Animated universe characters.
The flat out arrogance from these motherfuckers man…
