Past the growing pains and closing in on perfection.
Start of the season is a little slower similar to Season 1, but toward the end Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld found the voice of the show that would be carried through till the end.
Some of the most iconic episodes of television and social situations can be found during the season:
- The Apartment
- The Statue
- The Chinese Restaurant
In 2022, visiting an Asian restaurant in the United States or abroad during peak hours will have you not being seated in an orderly fashion unless they are Michelin rated. In 2022, if you have a maid or housekeeping service, you take inventory of items that could go missing. In 2022, you do not want one of your best friends, of the opposite sex, to have the ability to pop-in or out without warning. Just amazing social commentary.
The diverse cultures (Chinese, Latinx) of New York City also began to be represented throughout the 2nd season, with a cameo by Theresa Randle representing Black culture.
Of course it’s not perfect, much of the technology is dated. Rotary and pay phones are no longer used. Smoking inside a public building? That’s a negative. Answer machines? Voice mail says hello. A laugh track is not required. I blame NBC for that. Lesson learned once Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development got greenlit. Overall, technically competent for being filmed in 1990–1991. Media doesn’t have to be perfect to be enjoyed.
Re-watched over a month in April-May 2022 on Netflix.
Classic white noise!
