The beginning of something special.
Effectively the British Generation X equivalent to Curb Your Enthusiasm, Peep Show focuses on situational humor between two characters (David Mitchell, Robert Webb) instead of solely on the lead. Psychologically the two characters are interdependent and personify id and ego. The situations in this first series are relatively tame in comparison to later seasons, but nonetheless each episode has a moment where I just burst out laughing.
This is another one of the series that I binged during the 2008 recession so I’m biased, but damn the referenced pop culture was hot trash. The technical aspects are also pretty bad, around 480p. That’s pretty much the only negatives.
Rescreened last week of August 2023 on Tubi.
