Loki 1, A+

Basically a Doctor Who series without a companion.

This series essentially exists to re-introduce Marvel fans to the multiverse branching that was glossed over by The Ancient One in Avengers: Endgame.

Ignore that.

Lets go back and re-evaluate the Doctor Who comparison.

Take the series as a standalone adventure with Loki. Have “our” Loki (Tom Hiddleston) team up with another British version of himself (Sophia Di Martino). Grant each Loki a device that allows him/her to travel through time and space (TemPad = Tardis). Over the produced episodes slowly have Loki gain an emotional core, allow him/her to build a couple of relationships, give him/her a glimpse at him/her own mortality. All while uncovering a plot to destroy the universe (Timekeepers = Time Lords).

Sounds like Doctor Who to me.

Other comparisons I could make: Low budget sets with CGI environments allowing high budgets for the stars and guest stars. Mid-season cliffhanger. Encountering a future/past (Old Loki/Kid Loki) version of self. The Evil Mastermind of the bad things that happened (The Master) waits at the End of Time.

That’s what prevents an S rating. Everything was predictable if you compare it to Doctor Who.

Finished July 14, 2021 on Disney+.

P.S. Note the 1, as Season 2 is confirmed.
