Lexx 3, B+

After destroying a universe, the crew of the Lexx investigate the planets of Fire and Water — metaphorically representing hell and heaven.

I only remembered bits and pieces of this season, so effectively this is a fresh viewing. And I like it better without being blinded by nostalgia. There’s less raunchy bits since the crew is still coming to terms with the events of the last season. The new character Prince represents Fire as a chaotic evil deity but there’s no equivalent lawful good deity to represent Water.

Only 13 episodes for the season, the narrative doesn’t move beyond these two planets and seems to occur over a 2 week period. Lots of focus and character development for the Lexx’s crew and Prince as a result. Biggest complaint is a lack of variety in the set design and no character existing to balance Prince’s evil. Likely budget related.

First screening week of May 1, 2022, finishing May 8, 2022 on Amazon Prime and The Roku Channel.
