Another Steven Segal joint.
This one is from the Steamroller Productions era, but wasn’t produced by them, and turns out better for it. There’s a distinct lack of laziness… everybody is trying to act (and is working hard) in this movie except Segal. Starring a former Brit-pop star and some French names. The basic plot is Segal interrupts some domestic violence, claims said woman as his own and steals a million dollars on accident. Now, the drug lords want it back. Basically Training Day where you fuck your partner.
I’ll say this, the editing and general design are very nice if not obviously low budgeted. There was an attempt at style, at times I likened it to whoever edited The Man from U.N.C.L.E..
Negatives: Segal, 30 year age gap relationship not only with Segal but with his old friend, there’s a major subplot that is unresolved, and appears to be connected with A Dangerous Man even though Segal’s character is not the same.
First screened September 10, 2023 on Tubi.
