Improves upon the original in every way. I’m assuming not having the script being tied to a book (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) is the reason why.
The plot is relatively linear. Each plot thread that remained open from the original was resolved (Is Deckard an android? Can androids procreate? Do androids age?). The core actors are better. Sound design is superior (30 years of new audio tech for SFX).
The original Blade Runner set the standard for cyberpunk and noir visually and thematically, Blade Runner 2049 establishes the new standard until we have AR/VR implemented in movies (and television).
I consider this movie to be perfect and own the Blu-Ray. Never reviewed previously. First viewing October 14, 2017.
