More like The Legend of Kang: A Link to the Past...
I can see why there’s a lot of mixed reviews for the film.
The visuals for the quantum realm can be mistaken for the scenery and sets featured in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. The primary characters are not front and center in their titular movie, the secondary characters are (Cassie Lang, Hank Pym/Janet van Dyne and Kang the Conqueror). The film is basically an epilogue for Endgame and Loki 1, introducing the viewers to the new supervillain across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, INSTEAD of being an Ant-Man and the Wasp adventure. Basically, Paul Rudd got Disney+’d. This is probably the worst soundtrack in any MCU film. I didn’t hear any memorable themes.
However, with all those negatives, I still came away enjoying the movie. Same formula from the other Ant-Man movies, but with… significant threats this time around. Like… no spoilers, but Ant-Man held his ground and will die for his family. The creatures of the quantum realm are original. Jonathan Majors… chilling performance. Could easily appear as Apocalypse if he wasn’t already Kang. Michelle Pfeiffer, also good. Wondered why I haven’t seen more of her since Batman Returns then seen she’s never stopped acting, just not in anything I’d watch. Paul Rudd/Evangeline Lilly solid, but not enough to do. Just stop recasting Cassie Lang.
The Legend of Kang continues in Loki 2…
First screening March 4, 2023 at AMC NEWCITY 14.
